The new program!
Composed for space and inspired by Yadegar Asisi’s monumental installation “Great Barrier Reef”, “Oceania” describes a world of beauty and grace. Including new compositions exclusively written by Marc Strobel, the work is a tribute to the sea and its biodiversity. At the same time, the percussionists Kai & Marc Strobel address the ocean from an economic point of view. A sound research to highlight as well consequences for the ecosystem and the intervention in fragile systems. The element of water gets intelligently interpreted while using performative scenes and electronic tape.

PIAZZOLLA & PERFORMANCE
"Pulsation" for Percussion Duo combines avant-garde music with Tango Nuevo. The main focal point, standing above all in both cases: the pulse!
The percussive drum setup of "Time & Money" is part of an artistically holistic approach: The musician is not just an instrumentalist but becomes a performer and an actor. Francois Sarhan's "Homework" goes even further and integrates the voice into his performance, as a minimalist origin of rhythm and melody. On top of that, the composition is entirely based on body percussion.
In contrast, you'll experience the pulsating tangos of the grand Astor Piazzolla, new compositions by bandoneon player Omar Massa, and other composers of percussion music for vibraphone and marimba.

Impuls focuses on form and dynamics, energy and speed. On different relationships between dance & music, between the dancers & the percussionist and the space.
"In Roman Novitzky's work Impuls, music and dance are firmly interwoven. Percussionist and composer Marc Strobel placed himself on stage for the entire duration of the piece. The physicality of his playing makes him part of the dance. Stage design and lighting by Yaron Abulafia support Impuls in prominent role through effective shapes in space."
